东芝虽然拥有一个知名的品牌，但是在消费电子领域难以做到差异化发展。在电视机领域，东芝面临中国低成本品牌和韩国高端品牌的严峻挑战，另外全球个人电脑市场需求萎缩，东芝自身也受到拖累(note1)

东芝一直在寻求对一些业务进行变卖或是重组，以便能够为前景更好的存储芯片业务筹集资本。存储芯片也是东芝实力最强的业务，但是需要不断投资才能够紧追技术发展。

对于个人电脑业务，未来将主要关注企业PC市场，
在美国和日本两大市场，东芝将继续面向个人市场进行产品销售

營運出現困難,這是鴻海購併的機會, 
但鴻海是要買Sharp的面板廠, 著眼於面板技術(note3),
東芝, 值得購併的部分是什麼? 
PC嗎? 會像聯想買IBM PC部門那樣嗎?
